Happy Fridayyy! I'm working on my Outer Banks trip recap for next week (I expected to post it today but it's a long one!) and today I'm sharing the disposable camera photos I took while we were away! I love bringing a disposable camera on trips to capture candid moments like all of the photos from when we were kids. They're definitely not the best quality but they're so fun and I love the surprise of seeing them after they're developed!
Disposable cameras are not cheap (about $12-$15 per camera depending on where I can find them and $14 to get each one developed at my local photo store), so I might end up getting a film camera one of these days! I know absolutely nothing about film photography, but it's so pretty and I like that people are beginning to value it again. For now, let's check out these disposable camera shots!
I always love stopping at the border station on our way in! This time around it was CLOSED for technical issues (??) but I still had to get a photo with one CHEEK in each state. 😂
Kenny and I got down to the beach the day before my family, so we had the night to ourselves. We poured some Diet Coke and prosecco and had the nicest evening beach walk!
This must've been on Monday, which was our first full day together with my family. We were living our best at the beach! I could seriously sit there from sun up to sun down.
We took lots of walks! The house we stayed in was exactly two miles form Jeanette's Pier, so that was a nice "destination" to walk to and from.
Made it to the pier!
Posin' on the dock in Manteo - we've come here to go on sunset sails the past couple of years, so we brought my parents with us to walk around this year!
It was SO unbelievably hot this day. 😂 The hottest day this summer by far!
Manteo has a bunch of town cats - we always knew there was one (Shamus), but we learned this yeaer that there are ~10, and met this little girl, Lulu! One of the shop owners told us that they call her the town mayor and they just threw her a fifteenth (!!) birthday party with a "Cinco de Meow" theme. I DIED, so cute! She told us they're going to have a parade for her next year for her sweet sixteen with a full blown police escort!
We like to do this puzzle of all of the Outer Banks lighthouses in the summer, so my mom brought it down to the beach and Kenny took it on!
I swear I thought this was in frame (and this was my first drink of the night so it wasn't that 😂). We had some nice sunsets from our back deck!
Stuart (my brother!) fished every day at the beach. There wasn't much to catch, but this day he got a good one! He had his line cast and stuck his pole down in the sand and went down to the water. My mom saw his rod bobbing and called him back up and he totally didn't believe that he had anything on the line, but...
He had a big ole drum! He released it back into the water, but it was quite the exciting time at the beach. A whole family who had seen him reel it in came over to see it and they had little girls who were very excited, and Stuart let them touch the fish. 😂
Kenny bought a bocce ball set for the trip, and we had SO much fun playing every day, it was such a good idea! My dad and I played against Kenny and Stuart and I'm pretty sure we lost every time, but never by more than a few points!
I'll be honest, I got SO drunk this day and died for a couple hours. 😂 I think I was well on my way downhill when I took this one.
The next morning, my parents and Kenny and I went to Bodie Island lighthouse!
Kenny said this photo was "very 90's." 😎
After the lighthouse we had plans to go to Oregon Inlet, but Kenny and I had just enough time for a walk to and from the pier.
Out on Jeanette's Pier! We saw someone catch a pretty bit ray/skate (unsure) while were there.
My brother and me at Oregon Inlet! My family likes going there around the time the fishing boats come in to see what they catch. Most of the boats had come in by the time we got there, but we did see one with some good yellowfin tuna and a wahoo, which Stuart taught me is one of the fastest-swimming fish. A cheetah of the sea!
That evening, we went to Jockey's Ridge to watch the "sunset," which wasn't much of a sunset, but we still had fun!
My mom always makes a calendar of photos of us every Christmas as a gift for my dad, and I was joking all week that we'll have plenty to choose from this year!
Another gorgeous beach day!
Stopped by one of my all-time favorite spots - Mom's Sweet Shop!
The last night! We headed out with my brother for one last sunset beach walk.
Kenny and I got up to watch the sunrise the morning we left! So bittersweet, leaving the beach is one of the worst feelings in the world to me!
And for my last shot, a pic with my Roxy girl when we got home on Saturday evening. 😍 WE MISSED HER SO MUCH! She loves attention anyway, but she has basically not left my side ever since we got back. She is seriously the BEST cat I have ever known, we won the lottery with her!
