August Favorites

I said this on Monday and I'll say it again: I cannot BELIEVE that we have reached the end of August! The start of September always feels like the final farewell to summer even though we have a few more *official* weeks, and while I have learned to look forward to fall, I have a hard time letting go of summer! BUT it is what it is, so I'm bidding August farewell with a jam-packed favorites post!

I normally try to keep my favorites lists to ten things, but I could only narrow it down to twelve (plus shows) this time - so many great things to share! Favorites are pretty all over the place this month, but I always love hearing about peoples' "random" most of all. This time around I've got fashion, beauty, fragrance, AND snacks - let me tell you about everything!

  1. Fragrances: I have two fragrance products to share with you this month. The first one is this fragrance sample kit from Sephora. I love their fragrance kits because they allow you to try a bunch of different scents and then pick a full size bottle of whichever one from the set was your favorite. Plus, the kit itself is usually less expensive than any of the full-size fragrances they include. My favorites from the kit are Ellis Brooklyn Myth and Clean Reserve Radiant Nectar (which I already own), along with Floral Street Sunflower Pop, Maison Louis Marie No. 04 Bois de Balincourt, and Phlur Missing Person which I'm trying to decide between for my full size bottle! My other fragrance favorite this month is a GREAT ONE: Nest Turkish Rose fragrance oil. I've never owned a fragrance oil before but they are SO long-lasting and powerful. The Turkish Rose scent doesn't sound like something I would like, but OMG it is fabulous. It's feminine, floral, a teeny bit sweet, and just smells rich.
  2. Haribo peaches & fruit salad: These are some of my favorite gummies, I used to always bring a bunch of them to snack on during road trips! I had been on the HUNT for them recently because I hadn't had them in years - the store I used to get them at stopped selling them! It turns out that Dollar Tree is a reliable source for them, so I'm all stocked up!
  3. JD Glow galaxy shadow in "Opal": I've raved about JD Glow Cosmetics eyeshadows in the past, and this month I added their galaxy shadow in the shade "Opal" to my favorites list. It's a beautiful pink/blue metallic shimmer, and I love mixing it with their metallon shadow in "Rose Goals."
  4. Maybelline lipstick in "Touchable Taupe": This is a lipstick that I have owned for years but hadn't worn in forever, so I bought a new tube and I've been wearing it almost every day recently - I forgot how much I love it! The shade is the perfect slightly deeper nude for cool skin tones. It's a satin formula so it isn't as long-lasting as matte, but that doesn't bother me.
  5. Momofuku noodles: I absolutely LOVE any kind of Asian noodles - even cheap ramen! I recently ordered this Momofuku ramen to try and they did not disappoint, I love the texture of the noodles. I tried the tingly chili and the soy and scallion flavors, and I prefer the former.
  6. Mother of pearl heart necklace: I hunted this down after falling in love with an expensive Jane Win mother of pearl heart pendant. I love the satellite chain and details around the edge of the heart. This is a great layering necklace!
  7. Truffle oil chips: I rarely buy chips (because I love them too much and will eat half a bag in minutes flat), but bought these on a whim and I LOVE them. Kettle cooked chips aren't my favorite because I don't like how hard they are, but the flavor of these cannot be beat. I'll officially be keeping a bag of these around at all times!
  8. OPI "Miami Beet": This has been my nail color of the month - I've eyed it for a few years but thought it would be too pink-toned for my taste. I was so wrong, I absolutely love it! It's the perfect end-of-summer-into-fall color.
  9. Nike Sun Club Air Max 90s: Nike Air Max 90's are my favorite style of sneaker, and Kenny's mom got me these for my birthday (after Kenny tipped her off that I was eyeing them, ha!) I love the neutral colors they're made up of and all of the subtle tropical details.
  10. Bala bangles: I'd been eyeing these wrist weights because I thought they'd be nice to get a mini workout in while doing housework or going on walks. They're currently on sale! They're bulkier than I thought they'd be, but they work for what I wanted them for. I got the charcoal shade because I didn't want them to get self tanner stains on them, ha.
  11. Raffia heeled sandals: I probably should've included these sandals in my July favorites, but it wasn't til August until I realized how much I've been wearing them! They're super comfortable, go with everything, and currently on sale under $30.
  12. Tennis skirt: I got this after seeing Sydney Carver recommend it and I've been wearing it a ton! The sizing is a little weird, I got an XS which is my usual size in Target clothing and it fits once it's on, but it's a bit snug around the waist when I'm pulling it over my hips (and I'm not curvy by any means). I tried the small and it was easier to get on but too big around the waist.
  13. Watching: I didn't watch a ton this month, but I have a few recs! Probably my favorite watch of the month was the Class Action Park documentary on HBO Max - it is SO FUNNY and nostalgic, but also relatable and sad. It's about this crazy dangerous adventure park in New Jersey that was open during the 80's and 90's and some of the stuff that went down there is borderline unbelievable. You have to watch it if you haven't! I worked from home on my birthday last ween and binged Selling The OC on Netflix because it had just come out that day. There's nothing I can say about that one, I just love the drama. My last favorite watch of the month was The Most Hated Man on the Internet documentary on Netflix. That was SO INSANE and I can't believe I had no idea this situation was happening at the time! It's a bout a guy who ran a popular revenge porn website, but what was kind of unique about it was that he was very public about the fact that he was the person behind the operation and had no sympathy for any of the personal repercussions that the people (mostly women) featured on the site faced.

I hope you're having a fabulous week! This time of year is always busy for me at work, my schedule is continuing to fill up!
