Trend Spotlight: Cap Toe Heels

We've seen it time and time again: a classic piece blowing up as a trend. Certain classics are universal (blue jeans, white tees...) but many classic pieces are only classic to a certain style of dress. Preppy, workwear, street syle... They all have different pieces that make up their "classic" base wardrobe. But sometimes a piece from one of these categories breaks down the walls and becomes trendy across many different styles. Take the humble blazer for example: a business casual staple, but has been hitting the casual scene with the explosion of boyfriend blazers over the past couple of years.)

Another one of those pieces right now is a pair of cap-toe heels. Chanel immortalized the style with their classic slingbacks, as seen on celebrities, socialites, and self-proclaimed style icons alike. Ever since, it's been off to the races for other brands to create their own versions of the shoe that marked the mid-century.

Amy Jackson is the queen of simple, classic, and cool, and she has a TON of cap toe slingback outfit inspiration on her blog. She single-handedly sold me on the versatility of the style, and wears them with every dressed up-ness of outfit. In this case, the low heel elevates casual outfits without making them stuffy or impractical.

I love how she styled it here with a coat for a more businessy look.

Unconscious Style
This is a great example of styling cap toe heels with a super casual outfit. The jeans, relaxed blouse, and hat are easy and summery, with the unexpected dressy element of the shoes.

Palm Beach Lately
How great would a look like this be for a wedding? You could rock something like this in any season, which truly speaks to the versatility of the shoes.

I'm all for a good business up top, party on the bottom outfit (aka an outfit that's been dressed down with jeans) and cap toe heels suit that type of look perfectly.

Carrie Bradshaw Lied
Worlds are colliding with this outfit, and I love it! The preppy jacket, dressy skirt, and casual graphic tee are all tied together with a statement bag, and of course, cap toe heels.

Lat but not least, the most classic look in my opinion: cap toe heels paired with a LBD. Simple, effortless, chic.

The great thing about "classic trends" is that they're usually pretty accessible at many different price points. I didn't have to search long to find some great options. Scroll through the widget above to see my favorites! I ordered this pair for myself and can't wait to style them. I like the pointed toes and the particular shade of nude.

I hope you're having a good start to your week! Kenny and I are headed back from Savannah today (boo!) BUT I'm so excited to share about our trip, so I hope to have a recap up this week!
