A traditional French 75 is made up of gin, champagne, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Bubbly and gin are in my top three favorite libations (along with merlot), and I pretty much only drink cocktails that have a citrus element, so it's no surprise that the French 75 is one of my favorites. I'm pink-ing it up in honor of V Day by swapping the champagne for brut rosé, and the lemon juice for grapefruit juice.
Ideally I wanted to use pink gin for this recipe too, but none of my local liquor stores had it. You'd best believe I'll be grabbing some if I see it! For the rosé, I used BABE because I love it and always have some on hand, but you can use whatever your favorite rosé is, just make sure it's sparkling.
I added the strawberries just for garnish because let's face it, they're adorable. There isn't a strawberry element to the actual drink, but they serve as a great aromatic as you're drinking the cocktail and help contribute to its flavor in that way.
This is a super cute cocktail for Valentine's Day, but it'd also be great for brunches or bridal events. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, and I can't wait to serve it to my friends. Let's make it!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- 2 oz brut rosé
- Strawberries for garnish
Directions
- In a cocktail shaker, combine gin, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously to combine and chill. Strain mixture into a champagne flute.
- Top with chilled rosé and stir gently to combine.
- Garnish with a strawberry. Cheers!
I hope you have a great V Day and a great weekend! Let me know if you try my pink French 75, I'd love to know what you think of it. Cheers!
