Candy Shop Chic

Dress (similar here and here) | Heels | Similar bag
Happy Fridayyyy! Doesn't this look like something you'd wear to work at a cute little sweet shop?! Fun fact: my dream in life would be to run a cute little bakery, and I always said I'd call it Southern Sugar! As it turns out, Southern Sugar already exists (and makes the cutest custom royal iced cookies). As it also turns out, there is a very low chance that I'm going to be opening a bakery anytime soon, so Southern Sugar morphed into Shenandoah Sugar in the blog form you know today. BUT MY POINT IS, if I HAD a sweet shop named Southern/Shenandoah Sugar, I would totally wear this dress there!

My dress is from the ALEXIS for Target collaboration that dropped earlier this summer and is no longer vailable, but there are a lot of them available secondhand on Poshmark and eBay - just search "ALEXIS for Target shirt dress" and a bunch will pop up! It also ame in a version that was white with blue embroidered eyelet that was so pretty too. I found this one that's similar to mine for only $19, and another one from Brooks Brothers that's currently on sale for $50, which I believe is the same price I paid for mine, but the Brooks Brothers one is probably nicer quality.

Of course I had to pair this dress with some white heeled sandals and my favorite straw bag. Heeled ankle strap sandals are my favorite for summertime, they elongate your legs and really elevate any outfit. The block-heeled ones really are quite comfortable, especially if you're used to wearing heels regularly. I got this straw bag on a whim before vacation earlier this year, and I'm surprised at how practical it actually is. It holds all of your essentials, and it has a drawstring lining that you can use to secure your items. I've gotten a bunch of compliments on it, too!

I hope you have a great weekend! I don't have much planned, but I'm in the mood to bake. My dad recently sent me this recipe for the Waldorf Astoria's red velvet cake and I'm so intrigued to try it! The red in it comes form 32oz of pureed beets, and the icing is half cream cheese, half mascarpone cheese, which can't be anything other than amazing.
