You know the term Sunday scaries?? I recently saw the term "September scaries" and I relate to that HEAVILY! Y'all know I'm a summer GIRL and as much as I have come to love fall, the transitional shift is always really difficult for me in a self-diagnosed seasonal affective disorder sort of way. I get sad as the sun starts setting earlier and earlier knowing how long it will be 'til summer arrives again!
Aside from the emotional (for me!) toll that the seasonal shift can have, what do we WEAR during this transitional time?? 😂 I cannot delve into my darker colors yet, I get so sick of them by the time that winter starts to let up! Today's outfit is a good example of what I like to wear during this time of year - simple, classic wardrobe staples.
This sweater is a major layering staple for me - it's a great "shoulder drape" sweater! I also have this one in another color and they're essentially identical. I get a lot of wear out of my white denim skirt during the transitional seasons too; my office dress code is casual enough that I can wear it to work. Mine is old from J.Crew Factory, but this one seems very similar in structure and material.
I hope you had a great weekend! I had a really nice one (I posted a little photo recap on Insta!) On Friday after work, Kenny and I went to a free flower farm that I found out about and it was so beautiful! Afterward we went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Woodstock Café - if you go you HAVE to get the parker house rolls and whatever their weekly homemade pasta special is.
On Saturday morning my mom and I went to the mum open house at a local nursery and got some pretty fall plants. We both got the most UNREAL dahlia flower arrangements, mine was only $13 and I still cannot believe it - a florist would've charged at LEAST $60 for such a gorgeous arrangement. Minimum!! My mom also got a gorgeous bundle of dahlias for only $4!! The flowers seriously made our entire weekend! Later that day Kenny and my brother and I went to my parents house to watch the JMU game, and then we ended up watching School of Rock afterwards. 😂
Yesterday we had a family reunion picnic which was nice, and then I came home and relaxed for the rest of the evening. We had amazing weather all weekend so it was wonderful to spend so much time outside!
