Simple Spring Transitional Outfit

Dress | Belt | Sweater | Flats (Similar) | Bag

Hi friends! I don't know about where you live, but here in Virginia we are still very much in what I consider "transitional" weather. I can't quite pack away my winter layers quite yet, and my sandals are just begging to be formally unpacked.

Transitional outfits (especially office-friendly ones!) are not really my wheelhouse, but this one is one that I always come back to. It's a simple formula (shirt dress + sweater + flats) that's easy to recreate with pieces you probably already own. This outfit is one I wear to work often, but I also wore it to a winery recently!

I highly recommend this shirt dress! It's 100% cotton and a true maxi, so it's tall-girl friendly. It's true to size but has a relaxed fit, you could size down for a more polished silhouette. The only complaint I have about it is

This $50 cashmere sweater is a great basic, I also have it in burgundy (which I'm wearing as I type this!) It's lightweight so it's a good over-the-shoulders sweater. It has a slim fit, so I recommend sizing up 1-2 sizes if you want a more relaxed fit. I sized up one to a medium and it's still fairly slim-fitting.

I hope you all have a great week! I am OOO for the rest of the week and headed up to NYC for my bestie's bachelorette party and I'm really looking forward to seeing my friends! I would definitely describe myself as "country mouse" (remember that old fable?) and don't visit NYC often despite my three high school best friends living there, so I will be making the most of it!
