April Favorites

Happy FRIDAYYY and happy May!! Last month was the FIRST month in the history of Shenandoah Sugar (over 7 years!) that I didn't post a montly favorites post! I hated to skip it, but I just didn't have enough things to share for a post and I felt like the last couple of favorites posts have been lacking, so I figured I'd skip a month to make a better post this month.

    1. Farmers market hand soap: I love the Michel Design Works soaps and I thought this one was so cute for spring! None of the bottle designs have very descript scents listed, but this one is so good - herbaceous and reminds me of a combination of essential oils that I can't put my finger on.
    2. Shameless Snacks gummies: I got these "healthy" gummies on a whim and they're really good! They're softer than other healthier gummies I've had in the past, and I like that you can get them in a varitey pack.
    3. Liquid IV Mango: I'm a big Liquid IV fan and I had never had the mango flavor before, so I ordered it recently when it was on sale and it's one of my favorites now!
    4. Rocket Ice Pop sparkling water: Target's Good and Gather brand makes the BEST sparkling water at a great price point - I've been loving this seasonal rocket pop flavor!
    5. Replica Never Ending Summer: I got this perfume last summer and have been wearing it again as the weather has been warming up. My husband doesn't comment on my perfume very often, but every time I have worn this one lately, he has told me how good I smell! It's a fresh, slightly bitter citrus scent. It reminds me of an Aperol spritz.
    6. Straight jeans: These have been my FAVORITE jeans lately - I've had them for a few years and they're just perfect. They're described as "stretch" but they're really not stretchy, rather they have the perfect soft, worn-in feeling and break in perfectly. They're true to size and the ideal straight cut and length - I'm 5'7" and a lot of regular length jeans look oddly cropped on me, but these are perfect.
    7. Seashell door mat: Anything featuring a seashell motif always catches my eye, so I HAD to snag this door mat for summertime! Most of the doormats I've ever had have been from Target and they've always been super nice. Admittedly I still have my fall pumpkin doormat out (also from Target!) 😂 I'm waiting for it to get OFFICIALLY warm out to switch them out, hopefully in the next few weeks!
    8. Amazon sunglasses: This is a sunglasses favorite on behalf of my husband and my friend - this is my favorite sunglasses brand on Amazon, so I got these for my husband and he loves them. My friend borrowed them recently when we were out and about together and she ordered a pair for herself right away! She said they were a top 2026 purchase for her so far. 😎
    9. Peridot earrings: Peridot is my birthstone and I love it. I wanted a pair of earrings in silver because the only ones I had were gold, and I found these on Etsy and I LOVE them. I've worn them almost every day since I got them in! My "excuse" for getting them is that my bestie is getting married in June and her accent colors are spring green and silver, so these will be the perfect accessory.
    10. Gingham halter dress: I got this Amazon dress on a whim and I absolutely LOVE it! I don't often buy pieces that I can't also wear to work, but I made an exception for this dress because it's 70% cotton and I thought it would be adorable to wear to my bestie's bachelorette party coming up later this month. I've worn it three times in the last month, and I would've worn it more if it hadn't gotten chilly again (damn you, spring!) It comes in a few different colors and fits wonderfully. The back is smocked so sizing is forgiving. I would recommend picking a size based on your boob size - I tried an extra small, small, and medium, and they all fit, but the extra small was was best for my IBTs. 😂
    11. Watching: I have LOTS of shows to report on since I skipped last month's favorites post! I had season 4 of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives listed, and WOOF has a lot of drama unfolded since that came out! One of my friends got me into Chris Fleming in college, and Kenny and I watched his comedy special on HBO and it was so good! I feel like a proud parasocial friend seeing him do so well in his career - he started out on YouTube and his web series "Gayle Waters Waters" had a significant impact on my sense of humor. 😂 We also watched DTF St. Louis and it was a wild ride! Not sure I necessarily recommend it but it was worth watching and featured a lot of my favorite actors. We've been loving the new season of Hacks, and (hate?) watching the new season of Euphoria. To be honest, when Euphoria first popped off I had no appreciation for it and didn't understand the hype at all, but I respect it now and am excited to see how it wraps up (and to see Trisha Paytas' cameo!) We also started The Comeback in light of the new season coming out, and it's one of those shows that's the perfect combination of cringe and endearing. I'm not sure I would enjoy it as much if I didn't love Lisa Kudrow, but she just makes it. Another older show we started recently is Scrubs - Kenny LOVED Scrubs when it was airing live, and I had never seen it. He wanted to rewatch it since there's a reboot this year, and we've been loving it as a lighthearted show to throw on. On the YouTube front, I love Khloe Kardashian's podcast, Khloe in Wonderland. She is my favorite Kardashian sister, I find her so funny and endearing and relatable. Kenny and I have also been loving Studio Revue with Sam Reid. He films a lot of food content, and he lives in Lexington, Virginia which is a town Kenny and I visit often, so it's cool that a lot of his content is filmed so close to where we live!

How has everyone been?? I've been great, and super busy! I have been all but MIA here on the blog and I hate that, this is my happy place and I haven't had the bandwidth to make time for it lately! I have a very busy May and June coming up, but I will post here as often as I can because I absolutely love the blog and I miss posting regularly. I've been keeping up with everything I've been getting into, and have a big spring recap post planned for when life settles down a bit. I also have an easy, chic spring outfit post in the queue for next week, so I will see you here soon for that! I might be spring's number one hater - I've ranted about it before, but I cannot stand the unpredictable temperatures and rainy days, it's so uninspiring! It's been in the 50's-60's which is a temperature range I only appreciate during the fall - give me sundress weather, NOW!
