What’s in my Beach Bag

If you're reading this, I'm in my favorite place on earth - the Outer Banks! I'm very serious about my beach bag essentials and I thought it the perfect time to share them as I'm sure many of you reading also have beach trips coming up this summer.

SHOP THE COLLAGE

Boat and Tote bag: This is THE quintessential beach bag - I have the XL size with a zip top and extra long straps. It fits EVERYTHING!

Chair: This is my favorite beach chair - my parents have owned theirs since I was in middle school and you'll see them all over any beach you visit! Look for them in-store at Costco because they're much more expensive online.

Sunscreen: Duh! I usually go for this one, but recently picked up this one on sale to try because of how much hype it's been getting.

SPF lip balm: Just as important as body and face sunscreen for me is SPF lip balm. I recently picked up this one to try because my very favorite one of 15+ years was discontinued!

Rubber slides: These are the BEST beach sandals. They're essentially weightless, easy to slip on and off but don't fall off or kick sand up your legs, and they float in case they get caught by a wave.

Columbia PFG shirt: These shirts have been a game changer for sun protection for me! I wear them as a cover up, while sitting on the beach, and while going on walks. I have both the men's and the women's and I like both, but recommend sizing up in the women's for a more relaxed fit.

Elin Hilderbrand book: Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of beach reads! I've loved every book of hers I've ever read, but some of my favorites off the top of my head have been The Hotel Nantucket, The Perfect Couple, The Blue Bistro, and The Five-Star Weekend

Sunglasses: I always go for inexpensive shades at the beach so I won't worry about them getting damaged by saltwater, sand, and sunscreen. These are some of my favorites that I've repurchased and would again! They have plenty of coverage and are low profile enough to wear underneath a baseball cap.

Hat: Any cotton baseball cap will do - gotta have that face protection!

Towel: I'm not super picky about beach towels as long as they're extra large - historically I've loved Costco ones!

Simple Modern Trek tumbler: Along with sun protection, hydration is key for beach days. The 40oz Simple Modern Trek tumbler is my very favorite insulated cup, and I've gotten my mom hooked on it too. Throw in a stick of Liquid I.V. to level up your hydration!

Snacks: I don't know why, but honey wheat pretzel twists have been my go-to beach snack for as long as I can remember and I never eat them any other time. 😂 I also love trail mix and this kind is my very favorite - although the M&M's are definitely a liability in the hot sun.

Bluetooth speaker: A portable waterproof Bluetooth speaker is a must (as long as you're not bothering neighboring beachgoers!) I'm very serious about my beach playlists - I typically alternate between beach country, New Orleans tunes, and a modern reggae mix when I'm in control of the speaker.

Disposable camera: I never take a beach trip without a disposable camera! They're pricey to buy and develop, but they're so fun and capture your memories in a way that only low-quality film photography could.
