Favorite SPF Lip Balms

If I was stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one thing, it very well might be lip balm. 😂 I absolutely need it!! This time of year it's especially important to have one with SPF, so I wanted to share my favorites with you.

Jack Black Lip Balm: This is the SPF balm that I've been using the longest, and if I could only choose one it would probably be this one. I keep one in my bathroom and in my desk at work and use it daily! It's one of the two most affordable on my list at $10, and is often included in sales. It has SPF 25 and comes in unique flavors like pineapple mint and grapefruit and ginger. The texture is a true balm rather than a gloss, it's matte and has an almost waxy texture, it's thick but not sticky. It's moisturizing and has no sunscreen taste - I know a lot of people will not use an SPF balm if it tastes like sunscreen.

Sunbum Sunscreen Lip Balm
: This balm is the most accessible on my list - you can find it at any drugstore and it's $10 but often on sale. It has SPF 30 and it's flavored with the classic Sunbum coconut flavor which I love, but does have a slight sunscreen taste. Of the balms on my list, this one has my favorite texture. It's smooth and glossy, and long-lasting without being sticky.

Supergoop Glow Gloss
: This one is the newest to me! It's an SPF 40 gloss that comes in three different flavors, all of which have a slight tint but go on sheer and glossy. Reviews complain that it tastes like sunscreen, but I don't find it to be too noticeable. It is the least moisturizing option on my list in my opinion, but still a good tradeoff for the SPF it provides. This is also the most expensive balm on my list - at $22 I don't think I'd repurchase this one with cheaper options I love just as much, but I still recommend it if you want to give it a try.

Lanolips Sun Balm: Lanolips makes my favorite lip balm on the planet (the 101 ointment - I've used countless tubes) so I had to try their SPF balm when it came out. I have some gripes about it, but I will highlight the positive aspects first: it has SPF 30 which is good, it's sheer but has a subtle shimmer which I love, and it has a moderately thick texture that melts down to more of a gloss (I apply it with a finger rather than directly from the tube). The one thing I majorly dislike about this balm is the fragrance - it's marketed as having a tropical flavor, but it has a very strong gourmand that reviewers compare to caramel corn. It has a very slight sunscreen taste which doesn't bother me, but something to keep in mind if you avoid those types of balms. It is moisturizing, but not as moisturizing as the 101 ointment (but I have sky-high standards for Lanolips since they make my favorite balm of all time).

Cay Skin Isle Lip Balm: This balm is an honorable mention because I have not yet tried it but it is next on my list! It's SPF 30 and comes in a handful of different tinted shades. The reason I am holding off on trying it is that they changed the applicator because the original one apparently clogs, but when I saw it at my local Sephora the ones they had in stock still had the original applicator.
