Button down shirt | Sweater | Similar denim midi skirt, another option | Belt | Similar western boots | Bag
Happy Friday my friends, I hope you've had a great week! This week was my first full work week of 2025 and fortunately it didn't feel too long, but it has been SO cold in Virginia!! We're looking at lows in the NEGATIVES at the beginning of next week and I am NOT looking forward to that, it has me itching to get somewhere warmer! Kenny and I are thinking about taking a late winter trip to Florida since we had such a great time in Tampa last February, and these temperatures are definitely catalyzing our plans.
After the holidays I always need a bit of a palate cleanser when it comes to clothing, so today I'm sharing an outfit comprised of some of my favorite classic wardrobe staples. This white button down shirt has been my go-to since high school! When it comes to white button downs, I prefer oxford to poplin. Oxford is thicker, so it provides more coverage (poplin can be see-through) and wrinkles less easily, so it has a more polished look. Don't get me wrong, I love a crisp poplin shirt, but when dealing with white I find oxford more practical.
I rarely wear blue jeans, so the denim midi skirt trend has been so fun for me! Mine is old from Forever 21, but I found similar affordable styles here and here.
Have you all shopped at Quince? This pretty cashmere sweater is the only piece of theirs I've tried, but I'm loving it so far! These photos don't show the fit, but for size reference I sized up to a medium for some extra room but it's still fairly slim-fitting.
My boots are hand-me-down Justin's and are super old - probably 20 years old at this point! They're very much in need of a resole and conditioning, but the cobbler I used to always use retired. If you know of any reliable cobblers anywhere around Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Richmond, or Northern Virginia, let me know! This pair is the most similar style I've seen recently - I love them in red. 😍
I hope you have a great weekend! Kenny and I are planning on watching A Real Pain on Hulu tonight because it's finally available to stream - I've heard good things about it! Tomorrow we're planning on a date day followed by dinner at one of our favorite spots - my favorite kind of Saturday!
xoxx, Laura
