October Favorites

Happy November! October is one of my favorite months and I'm always sad to see it go (especially now that the dreaded time change has happened), but I also love the beauty of November, and Thanksgiving it my favorite holiday, so I'm looking forward to that! I skipped last month's favorites post AGAIN because I didn't have much to speak on, so I hope you enjoy this month's!

    1. Tweezers: My Tweezerman tweezers have not been doing it for me lately, so when I saw Jaclyn Hill raving about these I ordered them to give them a try. She was right, they're the BEST, sharpest, most precise tweezers I've ever used! They're so satisfying!
    2. Brown suede flats: Ballet flats are my savior for transitional weather when it's too cold for sandals but I'm not ready for boots. I got these beautiful chocolate brown Mary Janes this season and I've worn them many times - I'm wearing them as I'm typing this! Since they're real leather I was hoping they'd break in well, I find manmade-material flats to be very uncomfortable. These tore my heels UP the first time I wore them for an extended period of time, but they've been fine ever since, so I think they just needed one initial break-in session.
    3. Tuxmat floor liners: Kenny recently got a new car so I got him these floor mats for his birthday and we both love them! They're laser measured to fit perfectly, and they're super easy to vacuum and wipe down. The texture of them is really nice too, I had gotten him a different brand for his last car that were slick and made it harder to get in and out of the car. I would definitely purchase Tuxmat again, they're high quality and make a great gift for anyone in your life who likes taking care of their vehicle.
    4. Cashmere sweater: I have this sweater in taupe and burgundy, and it's the perfect over-the-shoulder sweater and . They're very nice quality especially for the price, I've had mine for a few years and haven't had issues with pilling or pulling. They're pretty form-fitting so I would recommend sizing up at least one size, or two for a more relaxed fit.
    5. Honeycrisp Hayride candle: This is one of my all time favorite fall candles! It's a fresh apple scent that almost reminds me of shampoo. It looks to be sold out online currently, but check your local store if you're interested.
    6. Down robe: I haven't turned on the heat yet this season, and I couldn't have survived the mornings without my down robe! Mine is from The Company Store and isn't currently in stock, but this one has the same specs. I highly recommend a down robe, it feels like you're wearing a duvet cover and they make great gifts!
    7. Cable knit cardigan: I've had my eye on the Tuckernuck version of this cardigan since last year, so when I saw this one on Amazon I had to give it a try. It's a beautiful quality cotton blend and while I've never owned the Tuckernuck version, I feel confident recommending this one as an alternative. I got the brown one in the medium because my usual size small was out of stock and it fits great - very slightly relaxed but not oversized. I ended up ordering another one in white and getting a medium in that one too. I ordered the beige first hoping for an off-white but it was very yellow-toned. The white is the perfect off-white shade.
    8. OPI "Miami Beet" and "Brown to Earth": These were my favorite nail shades over the past couple of months. Miami Beet is a beautiful rich deep magenta-red, I get it at least once every fall. Brown To Earth was new to me but it's the perfect deep brown, I will definitely get it again.
    9. Beaded necklace: I've posted countless times at this point about how much I love my beaded necklaces. I've even devoted a few posts specifically to them! One of my favorite ones broke recently and when I tried to repurchase it it wasn't available anymore, so I went with this one as an alternative and it's been a great replacement.
    10. Halloween mug: I know that Halloween is behind us and everyone is full speed ahead to Christmas, but I have to mention this mug, especially because it's on sale now. Rifle Paper Co. has great mugs, and this Halloween one is so cute!
    11. Watching: Kenny and I watched new rendition of The Naked Gun and it was so funny! I had no idea what to expect when we turned it on but I thoroughly enjoyed it, it is a super fun watch and I want to watch the older ones now. My brother had us watch the original The Thing right before Halloween and it was SO good, it definitely ranks among my favorite horror movies now that I've seen it. I was extremely impressed by the effects given the fact that it was released in the early '80s! Kenny and I saw You Can See Everything in the theater and it was incredible just as I anticipated. We are Nathan Fielder superfans and will watch anything he's involved in. It has been extremely hyped up and I felt like it was on par with his usual extremely high standard, and even more enjoyable having known what to expect from his style of production. On the show front, I enjoyed the newest season of  The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but the serious real-life drama surrounding it definitely puts a damper on it. The other new-to-us show that Kenny and I thoroughly enjoyed was Party Down, a 2009 sitcom that follows a catering company on all of the events they service and all of the antics that ensue between the staff and the guests. It stars Adam Scott who's always great and the comedy style is reminiscent of Tina Fey projects that I'm a fan of.

I hope you had a great Halloween weekend! Kenny and I didn't dress up, but we had a great Halloween. I bought a new car first thing that morning because my beloved little Subaru Impreza was recently totaled in a wreck... RIP to her, I adored that car!! Afterward we headed up to the Shenandoah National Park and did a couple of hikes and the leaves were just UNREAL. We agreed that this is the best foliage year we've had in recent memory. After the park, we headed back to my parents' for dinner and to help them pass out candy. My favoriete costume I saw was a boy dressed as Stanley Yelnats from Holes. He had a real shovel and everything!
